Grateful, Thankful, and Blessed!

I am grateful.  I am blessed. And I am so thankful.  Tonight, I had a brief fleeting moment that reminded me just how much can hinge on a single split-second decision.

Tonight, I attended a meeting at the famous Gibson's Steakhouse in Chicago.  The food was wonderful.  The conversation was even better.  And as we were all chatting, I had a brief opportunity to excuse myself.   As I walked across the room, I stopped for a few seconds and took in the view from the window of the upper floor of the restaurant out into the cold November night in downtown Chicago.  It made me think about where I had been the last three years and where I would have been tonight if I had not been offered a position in Chicago.  Quite frankly, I would have been in the camper, all alone, trying to stay warm, and wondering if I would have to endure another Kentucky winter.

Instead, I was at a famous steakhouse, eating delicious food, talking to a few people about SRSI, and finding myself very grateful and thankful for the opportunity to do what I am doing.

Being alone in the camper for 3 1/2 years has given me a huge appreciation for the simple things and it has helped  me to focus on people instead of things.  It has helped me to be more tolerant of people in tough situations, and it has helped me to be humble and respect those in less fortunate situations than mine.

So tonight I am going to lie down in a wonderful bed that is a couple of feet away from a bathroom with running water.  Tomorrow, I will wake up in a warm house, with good-hearted relatives, and go to work in my new vehicle.  When I get there, I will make a hot cup of  "K-cup" chai tea, and get prepared for a meeting that will last most of the morning.

Ahh, it's the little things in life and I am so grateful to have such luxuries all around me everyday.
